FLOW OF PROCEDURES

•The list of parts to be used in the manufacture of a product are setup in Inventory Bill Of Materials . Menu options Bill Of Materials Inquiry By Component and Bill Of Materials Report can be used for Bill of Materials inquiries and reports.

•Product specifications comprising details such as setup hours and runtime hours are entered using menu option Product Specification Sheet .

•Manufacturing parameters such as Direct Labor rate/Hour, Variable Overhead Rate/Hour, Fixed Overhead Rate/Hour, # of Hours per shift, and # of Shifts per Day, are entered using menu option Manufacturing Parameters .

•A customer order can be entered in Sales Orders .

•A trial build is run using menu option Trial Build to determine if there are sufficient component quantities to build a specific quantity of the new product.

•If the trial build is accepted, then the Production Run is committed and the first Production Run sheet for the first shift is printed along with the Production Specifications.

•The Production Run Sheet and Specifications go to the production floor. The shift manager fills in the Production Run Sheet for his shift, including materials used, how long each employee worked, setup time, and total run time.

•At the end of the shift, the Production Run Sheet details are entered into the Manufacturing Receiving transaction using menu option Manufacturing Receiving and a new Product Run Sheet is printed for the next shift.

•In the Manufacturing Receiving transaction, if the outstanding balance is zero, then the run is considered to be complete.
 A warning will be issued if materials short of or in excess of the run requirement, are not accounted for in the "Warehouse to Production Inventory Transfer" transactions.

•Management can use the Manufacturing Receiving Inquiry to analyze actual vs. standard manufacturing costs.

•The manufacturing time sheet is used to compare each employee against their time cards to ensure that direct production costs are fully allocated against inventory.
