Selecting the Printer

Getting Started Overview Information Guide -> Selecting the Printer

Select Printer:
Once the printers have been setup in System-Wide Printers, to determine which printer should output your reports click on the Printer option in the menu bar at the top of the windows screen and select Set Printer from the drop-down box, or by click the SET PRINTER button on the Main Applications Menu.

The SRM printer selection can be set to default by Operator as determined in Operators, and can be confirmed or changed as outlined in the Printer Selection window.

Note: Dot Matrix printing for checks and statements is not supported, though may be used for label printing from an MFC Windows Client.
To print labels from a Web Session or from an Open Client session, generate the list to Excel and use that software to print labels.
Laser printing is the supported choice for checks and statements.

Setting the Printer by Operator or by Terminal for LINUX systems:
In Operators, a Default Printer by Operator flag can be set. In LINUX networks this controls whether the printer selection is based on the current operator, or upon the last instruction to this terminal.

If DEFAULT PRINTER BY OPERATOR is checked, then all reports will automatically default to the printer selected by the operator signed into that terminal. When the operator selects a printer, all output will go to that printer. An Operator could sign into three different terminals and select a different printer on each one, and each terminal would print to a different printer. The next time the Operator signs into SRM, the default printer will be the last printer selected on the last terminal.

This is useful for accounting staff that have changing duties, and need to print to the laser for reports and the check printer for checks etc. The printer last selected by that operator will be the printer used for output at the next session, until re-selected.

If DEFAULT PRINTER BY OPERATOR not checked, then the printer selection is determined by whatever was last selected for that terminal. This is useful for operators that primarily use common printers or terminals.
e.g. Counter staff that use the invoice printers on the counter want to use the printer closest to the current terminal.
