Meter Reason Code Search
Search window -> Product Meter Information -> reduce Meter field change -> Meter Reason Code Search
If a Meter reading has been entered that is less than the Current Meter Reading, a Reason Code must be selected from this window as set up in Meter Reason Codes.
A default Reason Code such as "Late Entry" can be setup for the Rental Return, as defined in the Company Billing Parameters.
There are some basic restrictions on when a Type of Reason Code can be used.
The Type column categorizes the purpose for decreasing the meter count instead of increasing it and controls the impact on the meter count update, as follows:
•R for ROLL-OVER applies when a meter has reached its maximum count, and the meter reading count has been restarted.
•L for LATE indicates a later entry and writes a Meter History record, but does not update the LTD or Current meter reading on the product. The meter reading is only updated on the document.
•N for NEW is used when a new meter is replacing an existing meter on a product. The operator will be prompted for the "Old Meter Reading" and the "New Meter Reading" with the number of Digits on the new meter as outlined in Product Meter Information, or if the meter replacement occurs during meter billing Update New Meter Information window is triggered instead.
•C for CORRECTION of CURRENT can be used to change an incorrect meter reading. No Used units are recorded in the Meter History as this code is only used to adjust the current meter reading without changing the LTD.
•A for ADJUSTMENT of CURRENT + LTD can be used to change an incorrect current meter reading and also to update the LTD count only in a Rental Return.
Negative Meter Used units are logged in the Meter History in order to reduce the LTD running balance.
This can be useful in a Rental Return of metered equipment, where an incorrect meter count had previously been logged in history distorting the LTD, and where correcting the LTD ensures the meter billing calculation is based on the correct LTD count.
For information on tracking Meter correction, rollover or replacement on equipment refer to Update Meter Prompt/Meter Hours.
