System Generated Descriptions

Inventory Control Menu -> Sales Inventory/FL- Parts and Rental Inventory -> Additional Descriptions window -> System Generated Descriptions

This window lists the descriptions to be used in the product lookup utilities such as Inventory Search, that have been generated according to the following company standards activated in the Company Inventory Parameters.

•INCLUDE PRODUCT NUMBER IN SEARCHES
 The product number itself can be included as part of the description in the system generated description.
 This provides the ability to search by the product number, by entering the first numbers of the product number in the description field of the product search criteria screen.

•INCLUDE SYSTEM GENERATED DESCRIPTIONS IN SEARCHES
 Multiple descriptions for both Sales and Rental products, can be spawned from the primary product description.

Examples include:

oUsing the primary description of 300 CFM AIR COMPRESSOR, the following descriptions would be generated for product search purposes:

CFM 300 AIR COMPRESSOR
 AIR 300 CFM COMPRESSOR
 COMPRESSOR 300 CFM AIR

oIf a part of the description is only 1 character, that character is ignored.

oIf the letter X is used on its own, the words to the left and right are grouped together as follows:

5' X 5' SCAFFOLDING
 SCAFFOLDING 5' X 5'

oMeasurements are maintained together when identified, such as:

3 1/4" DRILL BIT
 DRILL 3 1/4" BIT
 BIT 3 1/4" DRILL

NUMBER OF SYSTEM GENERATED DESCRIPTIONS TO CREATE
 A maximum number of descriptions generated from each primary product can also be set in the Company Inventory Parameters.

The utility Rebuild Product Description Index can be run to update the description search to match the maximum number of descriptions allowed.
