Background Task processing is used by many programs to delay updating certain files when those files are in use so that it can complete the information update in the background when the file becomes available.

The primary advantage of background processing is the prevention of record locking at the counter.
 If the updating program gets a lock on a record, it will skip that product, location, or customer record, and will process it later in background processing.
 The disadvantage is that customer information, product quantity information, and product location changes, are often not reflected in the product file for several seconds.

This utility can be used by Texada Support to test that the Background Task (BKTX) transactions are running and that records are being updated.

Example to test BKTX updating Customer Credit Rating:
 Populate the fields in this screen as follows:

•Type: "C_RATING"

•Record: "ARCF"

•Custno: your test customer#

•Id: new credit rating code This will generate a BKTX record that changes the Credit Rating for the customer when the Background Tasks have run, which can be confirmed in Customer Information.
