Utilities Menu -> Inventory Control -> Clone Rental or Sales Products -> New Product # window -> Assign Product Number
This window is triggered when creating new products in Add Sales Products or Add
Rental Products, to define the product information to use in
assigning a new product number conforming to the product mask
requirements.
To manually assign a product number without using the Product Mask
click CANCEL to exit this Assign Product Number window, and
manually enter the product number in the Product Number
field, up to a maximum of 12 alpha-numeric characters.
This option is often used for sales merchandise and parts.
When this option is activated, the operator can still over-type the
product number with a manual number when preferred.
Alternatively, the product number can be defaulted from the
product Group and/or Class as be part of the product number.
This mask is more relevant for rental equipment.
The prompts are:
Check this box if the new product will represent a bulk rental
product with a quantity of more than one using the same product
number.
e.g. fans, heaters, dishes, chairs, small hand tools
Uncheck this box if the rental product is a unique item and is a
non-bulk item with only one Fixed Asset Tag.
e.g. Air Compressor, Scissor Lift
When the Auto-assign product number by Group is select, the
product Description, Product Class, Rental Rates, and Group all
default from the Group selected.
When this option is activated, the operator can still over-type the
product number with a manual number when preferred.
If the product# is setup to use a Group mask, the last used product number for the Group is carried internally for each Group.
When a combination of Product Class and Group is used in
assigning new product numbers, Bulk Rental products are assigned
the product number extension of 00.
e.g. 9301-00, 3010-00, etc.
Note: When iRely is enabled in the ERP Integration configuration then the standard 'Sales Product Mask' defined in the Company Inventory Parameters does not apply and instead the product# is assigned from an external REST iRely API which cannot be over-typed.
