This utility provides the ability to build Parent/Child customer account relationships to allow the primary or Parent customer entered in Parent/Child Relationships, to have access to his dependant customers' account information via the Portal.
Multiple Child accounts can be listed for a Parent.
The Parent can access all it children's accounts on Portal
as well as any of their children's accounts.
The Child account does not need to be licensed for Portal
access, for the Parent to be able to view his account.
A Child can see its children's accounts, but a Child cannot see
upward to its Parent's account.
A Child can have only one Parent assigned, but a Child can also be
designated as a Parent of another account, creating a
parent-child-child-etc. relationship.
The Parent customer number can also be accessed in Customer Information for the Child, in the
Internet Information window.
Note: A circular reference of cannot be built, where a Parent customer record becomes the Child of one of its own children.
The prompts in the Additional Child Records window accessed for a Parent from the Child Accts window on Parent/Child Relationships, include:
Note: The total Child accounts associated directly with the
Parents listed, is displayed in the Total Visible Child
Accounts field at the bottom right of the screen.
This count applies only to the next level and does not reflect
children of those Child accounts.
Note: Parent records that are also setup as a Child to another Parent record are NOT considered primary Parents and are excluded from the initial list, but can be found at the appropriate level in the Child Accts window.
ACTIONS:
Additional actions provided by buttons on
the Additional Child Records screen include:
Note: If there are any lower level Child accounts associated
with the Child account being removed, these children still remain
associated with that Child account. (i.e. It is only the original
Parent's link that is cut.)
If these children should NOT remain linked to the Child being
removed, delete the existing children first from the Child
Accts window before deleting the Child.
